Hourly to salary calculator

Start from the hourly rate. See what it really adds up to over a day, a week, a paycheck, a month and a year.

The same two-way tool, pointed the other way: type an hourly rate and it builds the salary. Adjust hours and weeks to match the job in front of you — a 37.5-hour week is not a 40-hour week. All figures gross, pre-tax.

Your usual scheduled hours, e.g. 40, 37.5 or 30.
Use 52 for paid weeks. If 2 weeks are unpaid time off, use 50 — that is the “paid hours only” view.

Read the annual number carefully

An annualised hourly rate assumes you are paid for every one of those 2,080 hours. If the role has unpaid gaps, unpaid time off, or seasonal shutdowns, your actual year will be smaller. Put your realistic weeks in the Weeks worked field rather than accepting 52 by default — two unpaid weeks at $30 an hour is $2,400 that the headline conversion quietly assumes away.

Going the other way? Use the salary to hourly calculator on the home page, or jump straight to a common amount: $50,000 a year, $75,000 a year, $100,000 a year.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert hourly pay to an annual salary?

Multiply hourly rate × hours per week × weeks per year. At 40 hours and 52 weeks the multiplier is 2,080, so $30 an hour is $62,400 a year, gross.

What is $25 an hour annually?

$52,000 a year at 40 hours a week for 52 weeks, before tax. At 37.5 hours it is $48,750, and at 30 hours it is $39,000 — hours matter as much as the rate.

Is $20 an hour a $40,000 salary?

Close, but not exact: $20 × 2,080 = $41,600 a year, gross. The round-number shortcut understates it by $1,600.

How many hours is a full-time salary based on?

Usually 2,080 paid hours (40 × 52) in the US, though some employers use 37.5-hour weeks (1,950 hours). Always check which basis an offer uses.
